A WIRELESS amplifier that can broadcast electrical signals from the brain, muscles and heart has been developed by a University of Newcastle student.
Bryan Jones, who studies a combined computer engineering/computer science degree, has designed the device, which could revolutionise health and biomedical research.
Mr Jones said the device, called a bio-transmitter, can broadcast signals and brainwaves without the need for cumbersome wires.
``The main advantage of using the new technology is that a wide number of devices can utilise the transmitted signal in a hospital environment, and will leave patients free to move around without wires connecting them to a computer," he said.
Mr Jones's device is on display at the engineering project open days today and Thursday from 2pm to 5.30pm at the university.
